My Other Brother Darrell

Joe McCarthy-wannabes like Congressman Darrell Issa, plan to tie up the Obama administration, unions, and all progressive organizations, with a new series of House on Un-American Activities oversight hearings. This charlatan also just accused President Obama and his administration of corruption and imagined that Obama and his cronies stole $800,000,000 to use as “walking around money.” Issa plans to use congressional subpoena powers to drag in government officials to testify about such vital issues as Wikileaks, the FDA’s new food safety standards, who’s to blame for the recent economic melt-down (like we don’t know already), as dilatory tactic to keep the government from, well, actually governing.

But, like any true megalomaniac, he is plagued by the haughty fear that the poop-stew he is about to cook up may be missing a few ingredients. And so he has just sent out word to corporations, and conservative think-tanks, for input regarding any other troublesome laws and organizations, which he may have failed to include on his original list for scrutiny. Those contacted are the same corporate entities that Scalia’s Gang of Five magically transformed into persons and are the same persons that paid for the commercial extravaganza in the last election.

OK, fine. Employ the best and brightest Tea/GOP/corporate/ultra-conservative minds to ferret out those nasty Communists…uh…er…Socialists…uh…corrupt dudes! That’s it, corrupt dudes! (Issa is from California, you know). But, once these persons respond to Issa's friend requests, they should be considered to have entered into a quasi-agency relationship with the government and thus should be prevented by conflict of interest laws from lobbying directly or indirectly for or against any piece of legislation or candidate for public office. If they do, it would be an act of corruption and Darrell Issa may be forced to subpoena them to testify at a whole new inquest.

Sincerely,

J. Brandeis Sperandeo

  1. Instead of cleaning up after the kegger that was the Bush administration and attempting to actually SERVE their constituents, the Republicans in Congress are spending all their energy, the American people's time, and their political capital trying to bring down Obama. You lost. Get over it and do your job.
